Mary Alice began writing career in Ruth
Partridge's Creative English Class at Warren G. Harding
High School, Warren, Ohio. During her Jr. year she
received an award from The Trumbull County Eisteddford
Association for an essay on President Theodore Roosevelt.
During the summer months she trained under Mrs. Foley
For the Warren Tribune Chronicle. She was employed
in Banking in Southern California where she opened
five new Escrow Departments for various Banks, and
served as the first Branch Manager of Marina Federal
S&L on Catalina Island.
Extended education was completed at
American Institute of Banking, Long Beach State, Orange
Coast and other local Jr. colleges in writing, speech,
communications and banking courses. In 2002 she received
the Laureate Certificate of Completion from The International
Library of Poetry.
When she organized The Marcella Press
in 1980 Mary Alice published her first book of poetry
Ryme and Thought.
She has been included in several editions
of Who's Who in California, the first edition of Who's
Who in California Executive Women, the ninth edition
of The International Who's Who of Intellectuals, and
is an inductee into The International Poetry Hall
of Fame.
The La Quinta Rotary Club presented
her The Paul Harris Award for her organization of
the La Quinta Historical Society. In 2004 she was
chosen by the City of La Quinta to receive their Senior
Inspiration Award.
Her personal life includes two children,
Roger and Faith Bailes, two grandsons, Bradley and
Jeffrey, and three great grandchildren, Dakotah, Lilly
and Dylan.
